Lttle Virgin Mary Fair

Back in September(I know I know, Im way behind on my blogging)was our first holiday here in Croatia. It was a day to honor the "little Virgin Mary" and they also had a Little Virgin Mary Fair that the whole town went to.

They had little booths set up selling all sorts of religious bracelets, statues, rosarys, candles and tons of other things related to the Virgin Mary. They also had booths selling all sorts of things like woven baskets, wooden kitchen supplies, lavender leaves, toys for the kids and many more things you can think of.They also roasted veal and sheep in front of everyone and then butchered it there in front of everyone too and then sold it.

And of course at a fair you have plenty games and rides. We tried out a few of their games, most of them were copies of what we would have in America but they had more of home made versions of our games.

They had alot of rides, just like at a fair at home. So we decided that we had to try out the swings, the only ride we could really trust, although that was a lil shady too. It is basically a free for all. You go buy your ticket then stand anywhere around the swings and as soon as it slows down you rush the swings and hope to get a seatt, there is no fence or any assembly to it, a free for all.We were lucky enough to get four in a rown. And if someone is not careful walking by the swings they could easliy get hit, especially since there are no rules. We saw guys grabbing the chairs in front of the them and pushing them out further and also 2 guys kept getting there swings tangled up. No rules.

But it was a fun night out with the girls and experiencing a lil bit of the Crotian culture.
